The Adult Development League is an opportunity for adult recreational players to maximize their fun quotient in the sport of ice hockey by learning to play the team game. So often, a player focuses on improving his or her individual skill. As they progress, they become better skaters, passers and shooters. They may even move up and play on teams at higher levels in their league. While this gradual skill improvement may provide a sense of accomplishment for the player, playing on a team of higher skilled individuals does not necessarily translate into more fun. Ice hockey is a team oriented game, and the level of enjoyment goes up exponentially when the players learn to play as a team. Executing a successful breakout from the defensive zone is a great feeling. Learning a forechecking system, moving the puck around the offensive zone to create scoring opportunities, establishing an organized and effective power play or penalty kill, with each player understanding his or her role…now that is hockey…that is fun!
The Adult Development League is designed for those players that are new to hockey, enrolled in our Adult Development Program (ADP), transitioning from ADP, or are currently on a D2 or D3 team who want to advance their play in a game situation. The goal is to successfully transition current Adult Development Program ( ADP) players to D3 as well as develop current D2/ D3 Senior Open League players to their desired potential. This league is also open to adults who have never played hockey! For those new to hockey, we also suggest enrolling in our Adult Development Program ( see registration information below).
Hockey 101 or Adult Development Program is great for improving individual skill. Sign up for our ADP, and you will become a better skater, a better passer, stick handler and shooter. In short, you will be a better player. During ADP, we also teach some of the basics of the team game. What we have found is that as a players individual skills advance, his or her hockey sense or knowledge of the "team game" are lacking. Players who transition from ADP to our SOL find more success when they have had some experience in game time situations. This Adult Development League was created to bridge that gap from taking players who are learning individual skills like skating, passing, shooting, and puck control and adapting those skills with other players in a game time environment. A team of players who are all committed to learning... a team under the guidance of a knowledgeable and experienced coach.
Following Hockey 101 and the JV Development League there is Hockey 201 and the Varsity Development League running all year.
The league will run for 12 weeks on Thursday evenings. Each team will have a dedicated coach who will remain with the team during the entire 12 week session. Sessions will continue to run on a 12 week basis as long as we have interest and participation! Once registration ends, the coaches will evaluate the players on the first night and draft their teams. The team will meet every week and after warm up and a few drills, the game will start! Each coach will provide individual instruction to every player on their team!
Five Reasons: Coaching, Camaraderie, Consistency, Organization, Fun.
The ADL will run for 12 weeks and each team will have a dedicated coach for the entire session. Each session will include warm up, a short practice and instruction, and then it is game time! You will play a game every week! As the session progresses, the coaches may also include some off ice "chalk talk" as well. The ADL will run continuously every 12 weeks while there is interest!
